S. Wayne Kay, Chief Executive Officer


 
Mr. Kay has more than 25 years of medical devices/biotechnology experience that he brings to the table as Chief Executive Officer of Response Biomedical Corporation. He is a former President, CEO and Director of Quidel Corporation, a leading global company in the discovery, development, manufacturing and marketing of rapid diagnostic solutions at the point-of-care (POC) in infectious diseases and reproductive health. During his tenure he designed and managed a strategy responsible for building and sustaining unprecedented market leadership of rapid influenza testing (from an approximately 2 percent to 49 percent market share). He was also responsible for significantly improving the financial performance of the company during his tenure. Since leaving Quidel in 2004, Mr. Kay served as an executive advisor to the management and boards of several early stage companies, mainly in the San Francisco Bay and San Diego areas. He also served as an executive advisor to one the US's most successful healthcare/life sciences blue chip venture capital funds, Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers.
 
 

Duane A. Morris, Chief Operating Officer


 
Mr. Morris brings more than 30 years of pharmaceutical, biomedical and biotechnology experience to Response Biomedical. For 21 years Mr. Morris held positions of increasing responsibility at Syntex Laboratories, culminating with the position of Director of manufacturing for Syntex's Palo Alto Operations in 1993. Mr. Morris then served as Vice President of Operations for Seattle and San Diego based Cypress Bioscience. Mr. Morris joined ID Biomedical in 2003 as Vice President of Operations. Upon the acquisition of the vaccine operations of Shire Pharmaceuticals by ID Biomedical, Mr. Morris became responsible for all North American Operations which included the 600 employee large scale influenza vaccine manufacturing facilities that supply in excess of 30 million doses of influenza vaccine to Canada and the United States. Upon the acquisition of ID Biomedical by Glaxo Smith Kline Biologicals, Mr. Morris also served as Vice President and General Manager of GSK's Bothell Washington Biodefense facility.
 
 

Livleen Kaler, CMA, Vice President Finance & Administration and Chief Financial Officer


 
Ms. Kaler has 10 years of financial management experience in several industries. Prior to joining Response Biomedical in 2006, she served as the Director of Finance at Infosat Communications, a subsidiary of Bell Canada and a leading North American provider and integrator of satellite communication solutions. Ms. Kaler successfully led the financial integration of three North American acquisitions, managed the accounting and finance functions through a period of exponential revenue growth, and was responsible for consolidated financial statements for 2 US subsidiaries and 5 Canadian offices during her tenure at Infosat. Ms. Kaler earned her designation as a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) in 2001.
 
 

Paul Harris, Ph.D., Chief Scientific Officer


 
Dr. Harris has 31 years of medical device and diagnostics industry experience. He holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry and therefore, brings broad-based business and technical experience including previous positions as Director of R&D at STC Technologies, Director of Systems Engineering and Manufacturing Operations at Microprobe, Vice President of Engineering at Cellpro lnc., and Director of Systems Development at Sanofi Diagnostics Pasteur. In this last position Dr. Harris assisted Sanofi in the development of their AIDS and hepatitis tests and instruments as well as their OMNI Procession analyzer.
 
 

Patricia Massitti, CHRP, Director, Human Resources


 
Patricia Massitti is a Certified Human Resource Professional with over 15 years experience as a Human Resources consultant, Manager, and Director. She has successfully instituted recruitment and training plans, leadership development programs, mentoring and coaching, organizational design, and benefit programs. She also has been involved in the effective integration of human resource policies and cultural coordination following acquisitions and mergers. She has worked for a range of companies including start-up technology businesses such as Zedi Canada and Hostway, to major multi-national corporations including Baker Hughes, a multi national oil & gas service company, and Intrawest. Most of Patricia's experience has focused on providing the foundation and support to create an environment of success for an organization's most important asset, it's people.
